5 Simple Ways To Deal with Skin Dryness

It’s a no-brainer, the general cause of dry, itchy skin is lack of moisture. While switching to a good moisturizer at the first sign of dryness may be helpful, but the harsh climate and air-conditioned may have already taken a toll. Here are some tips on dealing with skin dryness. 

#1 USE A HUMIDIFIER

Placing a humidifier in the room where you spend the most time like your bedroom, to maximize the amount of water in the air, helping the skin’s barrier to stay hydrated. Also, be sure to keep the heat on low or at a moderate temperature if you’re at a cold climate to avoid extra dryness in the air, and if you’re in a humid environment, try not to use the air conditioner too often.

#2 AVOID LONG, HOT SHOWERS AND HARSH SOAPS

Steamy showers may feel very good after a long day, but it draws moisture out of your skin. That’s why it’s suggested to limit shower time to 10 minutes, max, and using only warm water. From there, skip the harsh soaps that could be making your skin drier than it already is. Also, remember to pamper your skin with some lotion after a warm shower.

#3 DRINK MORE WATER

No matter how much moisturizers are applied, dry skin will stay dry if you don’t drink enough water. So, for your body, go pick up a glass of water now! Also, up to 60% of the human adult body contains water. Water is imperative to so many bodily functions, improves cognitive functions and keep skin stay hydrated. Make sure to drink enough water every day. 

#4 EAT YOUR FATS (THE GOOD FATS, OF COURSE)

Increasing your daily intake of fats may help with dry skin. It’s recommended to have a diet rich in avocados, nuts, fish and olive oil. This is because these good fats keep skin thick, supple, and moisturized, and the Omega-3 fatty acids reduce skin’s inflammation and sensitivity.
